Medical Education Manager – Cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM)

About the role:
We are looking for a motivated, organized and collaborative professional to join our CRM medical team to address medical education needs that impact the management of patients across Canada.
In Canada, learning programs for Health Care Professionals (HCPs) are allowed to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills among qualified HCPs. As such Novartis supports accredited and unaccredited programs delivered by HCPs for HCPs and other relevant collaborators to facilitate their learning. Accredited and unaccredited programs, irrespective of format, serve to enhance knowledge and understanding of advances in health research, health sciences, clinical practice and professional development so that HCPs can, in turn, provide superior health care to Canadian patients.

The role reports directly into the CRM Medical Director and will work closely with the CRM Medical Team and CRM cross-functional team.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of medical education programs and ensure optimal implementation of these programs aligned with identified needs.
  • Ensure all educational strategies and tactics comply with all applicable codes and policies (e.g. NP4, PAAB, Rx&D, etc.).
  • Develop and organize symposiums for national and international conferences.
  • Develop and organize National Visiting Professor tours.
  • Attend and actively participate in medical congresses to ensure the required follow-up in terms of dissemination of new educational medical information through publications and local scientific meetings.
  • Contribute to the content development of advisory boards and consult meetings.
  • Work with Medical Experts (ME) and accrediting bodies to 1) evaluate medical education needs, 2) develop accredited and non-accredited educational programs and 3) ensure optimal implementation of their educational programs.
  • Ensure ongoing communication with the field force to validate and ensure optimal and compliant implementation of key educational programs on the disease areas and appropriate use of medications.

Essential Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in a science related field as a minimum requirement; M.Sc. would be an asset.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a Medical Education Role or related experience.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Canadian legislation related to Medical Education activities mainly PAAB, Rx&D Code of Marketing and NP4 CHE expertise mainly related to organization and execution of key national and international programs.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
  • Strong communication, presentation (including ability to network) and negotiation skills.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of assigned therapeutic area (cardio-renal-metabolic)
  • Strong collaborative experience and ability to lead without authority
